Faith, Freedom & The Future: Challenges For The 21st Century

The former Bishop of Rochester challenges our response to the threat of radical Islam, and discusses complex issues where key Christian values are at stake, including marriage, the modern family, bioethics, freedom and conscience.

Author, The Rt Rev. Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, is the President of the Oxford Centre for Training, Research, Advocacy and Dialogue (OXTRAD). He was Bishop of Rochester from 1994-2009. Prior to that he was the General Secretary of the Church Mission Society (CMS), having been Bishop of Raiwind in Pakistan, where he has both a Christian and a Muslim family background.

“Bishop Michael believes that it is only through a renewal of the vision of the Bible – brought about by the working of the Holy Spirit for which we, as Christ’s followers must contend – that the West will be able to strengthen its moral and social basis and counter the challenges being posed from outside. The book provides a compelling and hope-filled vision of what a living Christian faith, and its comprehensive outworking, can offer society today”
Rev. Andrew Symes, Executive Secretary, Anglican Mainstream

“This is a remarkable, thoughtful and scholarly book which speaks powerfully into dilemmas of the contemporary world. All the issues which Nazir-Ali considers are carefully scrutinised and assessed by solid, contextualised biblical principles.”
Rev. Dr Nigel Scotland, Tutor, Trinity College Bristol, writing for The British Church Newspaper
